Cameroon Medical Mission
|
|
The Mission
To promote health through provision of basic healthcare information education and donations of medical supplies and equipment to needy families in Africa. The nation Cameroon is located in central West Africa, sharing borders with Chad, Nigeria, Gabon, Congo and Guinea.

|
Needs Assesment
The challenges facing the nation of Cameroun in the area of healthcare can be appreciated by citing a few of the sobering statistics from 2003 estimates.
- Total population of country 16.5 million
- Life expectancy 48 years
- Infant mortality rate 95 per every 1,00 live births
- Maternal mortality rate 1 in 15
- People infected with AIDS/HIV 830,000
- Children orphaned by AIDS/HIV 400,000
The overall situation is compounded by the scarcity of medical practitioners, pharmaceuticals, clinical technology and educational training materials and instructors that limits the provision and accessibility to healthcare.

Goal for 2006
Shiloh Missions is soliciting support and donations for a medical missions humanitarian trip to the nation of Cameroun starting in August of 2006. Each trip will concentrate on specific goals such as fact-finding to access specific needs and establishing local contracts and identifying clinics to partner with; organizing health education fairs with volunteer health workers; shipment of medical supplies and equipment, etc.
Shiloh Missions will take responsibility in coordinating, gathering and maintaining accurate inventory of all gifts- in- kind and donations, and to provide these goods to the underprivileged families in Cameroun .
We anticipate going on an initial fact-finding trip with a few volunteer health workers in August of 2006 with some basic medical and school supplies.
